Winter Garden sweet fiends have a new place to quench their appetites. Sweet Dee’s Cupcakery and Custom Cakes opened in downtown on Main Street on November 9th.

Sweet Dee’s offers a wide variety of baked goods, from cookies to brownies, to cheesecakes and everything in between. As the same would suggest, they are also well-known for their cupcakes and their custom cupcake bar.
At the cupcake bar, you can make a unique creation, with different flavors, fillings, toppings and drizzles to choose from. Kids also love adding the edible glitter, which adds a fun flair to any cupcake combination.
Those looking to watch their diets can also find an assortment of gluten-free and vegan choices, while keto, dairy-free and sugar-free options are available by request. They even have sweet treats for your favorite four-legged friend.
Shop owner and executive baker Diandra Culver is an Orlando native who now lives in Ocoee. She learned the art of baking in the kitchen of a next-door neighbor growing up.
Prior to opening Swee Dee’s, Culver always treated baking as more of a hobby. While she never went to culinary school, she did attend The Wilton School in Illinois to learn more about cake decorating from their masters course, which covered things like baking, piping, fondant, sugar work, gum paste and gluten-free baking.
Culver’s original career path after graduating from the University of Mississippi after graduating with a degree in parks and recreation management involved working in pro sports. She returned to the Central Florida region after that to work as a children’s activities and special events coordinator at Walt Disney World.
During the seven years at Disney, Culver was a part-time staffer at a bakery in Clermont. The passion for baking she developed there convinced her that she wanted to be a full-time business owner in the field.
