There is no question that land is in high-demand throughout Winter Garden. With that in mind, city leaders are mulling over the purchase of a plot located adjacent to a three-and-one-half acre parcel they already own.
The residential property, nearly a half acre in size, is located at 902 Avalon Road. Potential future plans for the land include either a public park or public works substation.
City Manager Mark Bollhoefer was given the authorization to purchase the property at a March 28 meeting for the Winter Garden City Commission.

There is currently a three bedroom home owned Benjamin and Marica Bledsoe on the land.
The Bledsoes are planning to move out of state, which made this opportunity available for the city. Both plots combined would equal four acres, the perfect size for a park, or a place in the interim that could by the home to the labor force working nearby at Tucker Ranch.
City Commissioners agreed that Bollhoefer could purchase the land for $240,000.
